Golf Courses
Take a look at the incredible selection of signature courses available to you in beautiful Gulf Shores. Your next great golf vacation starts right here!
The original Arnold Palmer design in Gulf Shores, Cotton Creek combines the mystique of Palmer with Southern hospitality and charm. Always lush and green, it's over-seeded wall-to-wall during the winter and spring making it a must-play any time of the year.
Featuring rolling fairways and large undulating greens, Cotton Creek is very playable from the forward tees and a true championship challenge of over 7,000 yards from the tips. This masterpiece was designed to challenge rather than intimidate, with numerous risk/reward opportunities throughout.
Another Arnold Palmer design, the newest addition to the Gulf Shores scene was recently rated the "#1 most playable new course in the U.S." by Golf Digest magazine. Featuring staggered tee boxes, sprawling bunkers, superb greens, and year-round lush conditions, Cypress Bend is a masterpiece and a "must-play" during any visit to Gulf Shores.
As the perfect complement to the other course on the property, Cotton Creek, this scenic beauty traverses a unique system of lakes that bring water into play on virtually every hole.
One of the best values in the Gulf Shores area is Glenlakes, featuring the unforgettable links-style Dunes Course designed by former PGA star Bruce Devlin and Robert Von Hagge.
True to its name, the Dunes is an 18-hole championship layout with wide, rolling fairways, bordered by the designers' hallmark mounds, leading to the large undulating greens. From beginners to the most skilled, all golfers will fall in love with the natural beauty, challenging shots, and wonderful service available at Glenlakes.
Designed by former U.S. Open champion Jerry Pate, Kiva Dunes is one of the most honored courses in the Gulf Shores area. Named by Golf Digest as the best public golf course in the entire state of Alabama, it has also been featured in Golf Magazine, Senior Golf, USGA Golf Journal, LINKS, and GolfSouth.
A true links course, Kiva Dunes is a splendid achievement lying directly on the Gulf of Mexico. The greens are among the best anywhere and the service is what you'd expect top-notch. Don't dare miss the chance to experience Kiva Dunes.
Arnold Palmer created another winner with the extraordinary Lost Key, located just across the Florida/Alabama state line in Pensacola. Lost Key's presence has contributed to a new standard of golf on the Gulf Coast.
Challenging and beautiful are two of the words most often used to describe it and the personal attention of the PGA staff will make you feel spoiled. Lost Key is the first course in the country to feature certified "Floradwarf" greens, resulting in a smoother and faster surface more typical of Bentgrass. And each cart comes complete with the ProShot Omni Golf System to give you critical distances and playing tips, as well.
This 27-hole layout on beautiful Mobile Bay promises the golfer nothing short of an awesome experience. Located on 820 secluded acres, this Earl Stone masterpiece is one of the main reasons golfers are flocking to the Gulf Shores area. Winding its way around and through live oaks, cypress, natural vegetation, and numerous lakes, it's a delight to the senses and a great test for players of all skill levels.
Don't pass up Peninsula on your next visit to Gulf Shores. Top-notch facilities, friendly service, and an unforgettable setting make it one of the jewels of the area.
This 18-hole layout along the eastern shore of Mobile is one of the standout courses in the area. Featuring some of the highest points in Baldwin County, you just won't believe some of the incredible changes in elevation at Rock Creek. And it all overlooks the stunning sights of the freshwater wetlands. Tall pines and hardwoods line the fairways, enhancing the visual effect.
Rock Creek, located in Fairhope, is definitely one of the most enjoyable courses to play in the Gulf Shores area. Locals and visitors alike have put it at the top of the list for years. Come see why!
Also located along Mobile Bay's eastern shore, TimberCreek features 27 holes for your golfing pleasure. Another Earl Stone creation, it offers stunning views of the rolling fairways, carved from a forest of "dogwoods," "magnolias," and "pines." Thus the names of the three nines.
Abundant are elevation changes, wetland preserves, and lots of wildlife to create that special atmosphere to enjoy your round. Add a classic clubhouse, full-service restaurant, and southern hospitality and you're a big winner at TimberCreek.
The course at Soldiers Creek Golf Club was designed by Scott Clark, a former Golf Course Superintendent at The Grand Hotel in Point Clear Alabama and the current Superintendent at The Peninsula Golf Club in Gulf Shores Alabama. While this is Scott's first attempt in playing the role of a course architect, it also reveals his depth of experience in the golf course industry. The design goals of building a course that would be enjoyable for high handicappers as well as low handicappers was met in this design. The course features wide player-friendly fairways. Also, water comes into play on only two holes which makes navigating this course easier for high handicappers. A large natural turf driving range and 10,000 square foot practice green is available as a warm-up or practice area.

Beach Warning Flags

While at the beach have you ever wondered what the different colored flags stand for? The flags could be red, green, yellow, purple or there could be double red flags. What does it mean? And, more importantly, how does it affect your day at the beach?

We will start with the green flag. A green flag on the beach means conditions are calm. You can enjoy the beach to the fullest while exercising a regular amount of caution.

The next flag we’ll look at is the yellow flag. The yellow flag will mean that there is moderate surf and / or currents. Medium hazard. Enjoy the beach but exercise caution while in the ocean.
The purple flag represents dangerous marine life. This means that dangerous marine life have been found in surrounding waters. Dangerous marine life could include: sharks, jellyfish, Portuguese man-of-war, skates, etc.
A red flag warns of high surf and / or strong currents. No swimming is recommended and extreme caution should be exercised while in or near the water.
Double red flags mean that the water is closed to the public. The surf and currents are so rough that the water is closed to the public.
We all hope for a green flag and sunny skies while at the beach. If you are in the mood to try out a new boogie board then you might want a yellow flag with sunny skies. Witnessing the high surf associated with double red flags, while not conducive to swimming, is an awe-inspiring sight and something that all beach goers should see at least once in their lifetime just to appreciate the power of the ocean.
So here’s to hoping the flags fly your way while you are at the beach! To book your beach vacation today, visit Bender Realty's Vacation Rental Page!

Welcome!

Hello fellow beach lovers and welcome to Bender Realty’s Blog. My name is June Bowman and I will be your guide to sun, sand, surf and ultimate relaxation! You may wonder if I’m qualified to guide you around these luxurious elements. I think I am, but I’ll let you be the judge.

My first trip to Gulf Shores was in 1991. We packed up our nine month old son, grabbed my brother-in-law’s family and headed south from Louisville, Kentucky. After a weeklong stay at the Sandpiper, we were hooked. Since that time we have visited Gulf Shores and Orange beach almost every year. In 2002 we went from being adamant vacationers to condo owners. So we’ve now experienced both sides of going to the beach. Either way, we love it and over the past 21 years we have never been disappointed with the Gulf Shores, Orange Beach area.

What is unique about this slice of heaven on earth, and what keeps us going back year after year, is how family oriented the entire community is. Children are not only welcomed; they are catered to as actual full-fledged, beach-loving citizens. As a mother of three, this is very important to me. I don’t want to feel like my children are ruining someone else’s time or are a bother. We’ve always felt welcome – as a family – to every establishment we’ve visited along the coast.

This doesn’t mean there aren’t places designed for adult enjoyment in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach. There are plenty of those establishments and we’ve left the kids with a sitter and enjoyed several over the years, but in our experience the draw to the Gulf Coast is the feel of the community that welcomes both families and adults, which I think is rare and so very worth the travel time.
